SC Engineers served as the Mechanical Engineer of Record for the award-winning City of San Diego Central Library. In addition to providing design services for the 497,652 SF facility, SC Engineers’ scope of work also included the design and integration of an underground site chilled water distribution system to connect to the existing East Village District Cooling Plant (which also serves the Petco Ballpark and the Omni Hotel) to the new library.

The SC Team provided unique services for this project including an analysis of the daily chilled water demand; a comprehensive load and shading analysis for the Library Glass Reading Rooms; an interior building acoustic design analysis for the mechanical and plumbing systems; a full subterranean dewatering system; and sub-metering of all utilities to serve a dedicated Charter School which occupies two levels of the building.
